After church last week, the kids were out shoveling the sidewalk; they were making a big show of throwing the snow over their shoulders. And then Nate stepped a little too close to Abbie and got a shovel to the face. She hit him right between the eyes. We were certain that it was broken, as it swelled up huge within the first minute and was bleeding. We immediately put ice on it and took him to the Peds urgent care at UW. Luckily it wasn't broken, but they did end up super gluing the cut closed. Poor Nate. Abbie felt horrible and wrote him a very sweet apology note. We made sure she understand that nobody was upset with her; we all knew it was an accident. But we did make Nate some Salted Caramel Brownies while he was getting fixed up... Chocolate makes everything better, right?
