Last Sunday, we had our first fire in the backyard. It had been warm and beautiful all day, and we wanted to have some organized family time before bed. Alan built a fire in the fire pit while I got the kids ready for bed. We all went outside and huddled around the fire, wrapped in blankets, to read our nightly installment of On the Shores of Silver Lake, the last book of our Little House set. It was a wonderful night, full of laughter and flaming marshmallows, and lots of "can we do this again tomorrows?"
