Christmas 2012

We spent Christmas morning alone as a family this year for the first time in a long time (ever?). We had the Sister Missionaries and our friend Alice over for dinner (and to let the Sisters use our phones/computers to call/Skype with their families before we ate). We put up our Christmas village despite having a one year old in the house; there were only a few small casualties. It was a lovely way to spend our last Christmas in our home in Madison, as Christmas 2013 will be spent in our new home in Westminster, CO. I will always have fond memories of this last, sweet Christmas holiday spent together in Madison--Going out to buy the biggest and best smelling tree that would fit in our house (then having to saw some off the top and bottom because we overshot), putting out my grandma's international nativity collection, decorating the tree with ornaments new and old, hanging twinkling lights from every space possible, and having an almost constant background of Christmas music to remind us of the real reason that we celebrate Christmas--the birth of our Savior, baby Jesus.

I can't believe how straight his hair was!
Abbie wrote a letter to Santa; he wrote her a letter back!
Noah, who LOVES trains, received this motorized Thomas from Santa. The grin on his face as he rode along was priceless.
Nate and Abbie got a Wii--This was a highly treasured gift, in case you can't tell by their smiles.
I look forward to our next Christmas together in Colorado. I pray that it will be as joyous as last year's.
