Nate came to me wearing a (Twilight) band-aid and declared, "Mommy, I had a bloody lip."
Way to take care of that.
Alan took the kids to a corn maze--Nate was very worried about not making it out.
I'm happy to announce that they arrived home later that same day.
Apple picking resulted in a multitude of apple dishes. These baked apples were off the hook.
Sorry that the picture is rather disgusting.
I began a Cathedral Window Quilt.
Abbie has a new selection of tights to keep her little legs warm through the winter.
October is probably my favorite month of the year. The air turns crisp and cool, but the bitter cold and snow are still at bay (mostly). The leaves transform into startling hues of reds, oranges and yellows cast against a gray sky. The air outside takes on a distinct and intoxicating scent that I just can't get enough of, especially in the evening at twilight. I don't know why, but I always smell it most then. The sounds of little feet kicking through dried leaves is like music to my ears. And the food... Apple butter, apple pie, apple crisp, baked apples, caramel apples. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin cookies, chocolate pumpkin spice bread. Warm apple cider and Mexican hot chocolate, both laced with cinnamon. Then there's Halloween. An excuse to keep the kids up late, eat a ridiculous amount of sweets, and dress up. I always loved dressing up. Let's be honest, October is an amazing month. And my birthday. But that's another post.
I don´t think I fully appreciated October as a kid (even with Halloween included), but it is definitely on the top of my list these days, and I´m so sad that it´s already over!
