Crafternoon

Mondays for the Madison Metropolitan School District are early release days.  Nate finishes school at 1:45 instead of 3:17 (his normal time).  I love Mondays.  We were supposed to play at a friend's house after school, but she threw up this morning.  Needless to say, I had to find a new activity that would take some serious time and be fun enough to cancel the bummed feeling from not getting to play with Ella.  The solution?  Freezer Paper Stenciling!
I found this website linked on my friend Rachel's blog (Ella's mom, ironically).  From there I was lead to her book, and the idea for freezer paper stenciling.  This is so easy, it's ridiculous.  I traced Nate's UFO onto freezer paper and freehanded Abbie's castle, as I couldn't find anything online to trace.  Then, using an exacto knife, I cut the stencils out and ironed them to the shirt and apron.  Abbie and Nate did all the painting.  This was so much fun and so easy to do.  I'm sure we're going to be doing it again very soon!

  1. I love these! One of these days I'll be buying some freezer paper. :) I suppose it won't be so bad if I wait until Gideon's old enough to help!
