Preschool

Abbie started preschool!  She had her first real class yesterday.  She's attending Mt. Olive Christian Preschool which was recommended to us by more people than I can count.  She did wonderfully!  Abbie was so excited that she could hardly wait until 9:00.  Alan was post-call (and home already!), so he was able to come with us.  Abbie walked in, got to work and didn't look back.  Literally.  She didn't even turn around when we left.
This experience was so different from our experience with Nate.  Not only was Abbie's attitude and reaction to preschool different, but my feelings about leaving her were as well.  Where as I know that I cried after taking Nate to preschool (and kindergarten and first grade) for the first time, I felt hardly any apprehension about dropping off Abbie.  I'm not really sure why either.  I wonder if it's because she's just so self-confident and good in a crowd.  I've always worried about Nate because he's a little shy and small for his age.  I wonder if it's because she was so ready and excited that I didn't really feel the need to worry.  Either way, I'm thrilled that things went so well.  Yeah Abbie!
Since Alan was post-call, we were able to go out for breakfast.  Just the two of us!  We went to La Brioche where I cheated and ate something chocolate.  I definitely payed for that later with a migraine that afternoon.  Thank goodness for Imitrex or it wouldn't have been worth it!  (It was!)  We also did some grocery shopping.  Before we had kids, we used to love to grocery shop late at night together.  It was fun going alone again yesterday.  In the future, since he won't be post-call most preschool days, I'm not sure what I'll do.  I'm planning to volunteer in Nate's classroom one of the days and then who knows what the other day.  Maybe grocery shopping on my own.  How peaceful.
Here are some pictures from her first day:

  1. What a fun morning date with Alan! How many days of the week is Abbie in pre-school? Logan and I went grocery shopping the other night together without Brennan. It was so much fun to me. I love asking his opinion about different foods. Who knew I would miss grocery shopping together so much as life gets more and more busy.

  2. Mrs. T is an angel. I will always feel a special debt of gratitude to her for how good she was to Luke, who was apprehensive about leaving Mom. It was the perfect introduction to school for him.

    Congratulations Abbie!
